PEERS ® for Teens and Young Adults

Evidence-based group treatment program

The  PEERS  ®  for Young Adults curriculum is an adaptation and extension of the popular adolescent program. The intervention is designed for higher functioning late teens/young adults who have neurodevelopmental disorders and/or social challenges with average to above average intelligence. This program provides effective instruction in rules and strategies for social interactions, as well as opportunities for practice in a comfortable small group setting.

As high functioning adults can have unique needs, it is important for instruction to be adapted for the functioning level of the individual. Mariam Araujo, PhD is a clinical psychologist who has expertise in the diagnostic assessement of adults and is a  certified Young Adult PEERS ® provider. Dr. Araujo carefully screens each participant to determine treatment goals and ensure an optimal group fit.
