The PEERS ® program is a group therapy intervention which targets social skills applicable to real-life contexts. The program is designed for those who have neurodevelopmental disorders and/or social challenges with average to above average intelligence. Evidence-based instruction in rules and strategies for social interactions is provided, as well as opportunities for practice in a comfortable small group setting.
As high functioning individuals on the autism spectrum can have unique needs, it is important for instruction to be adapted for the functioning level of the individual. Dr. Araujo is a clinical psychologist trained in assessment and therapy for individuals with neurodevelopmental differences. She is also a certified PEERS ® provider. While a diagnostic evaluation is not included as part of participation in the group, a careful screening ensures establishment of appropriate goals and an optimal group fit.
